Costume: The Miley Look Halloween Edition

The Miley Look:  Need inspiration for a cute, edgy, and trendy Halloween costume?  Stand out by rocking the Miley look.  Inspired by her hit music video "We Can't Stop" outfit, you'll be sure to have the hottest costume every girl will wish they had worn.

What You Need:  To pull off Miley's cute, rebellious look, first, you need a white crop top featuring the words "WEST COAST" (you can always improvise by using material puff paint or ironing letters onto a plain crop top).  Next, a pair of white short shorts, suspenders (white preferably but black works also), and silver heels.  To get her sassy flare, wear multiple necklaces (she wore one "M" pendant and one key pendant necklace), cat-eye sunglasses (she wore silver and pink throughout the video, but any color works), and bright red lipstick. Also, make sure to wear your hair pulled back and up and accessorized with a black bandanna.  Giving the costume the perfect finishing touches, have fun stacking bracelets, getting your nails done, wearing multiple rings, and edgy earrings.  An optional piece to the ensemble is a teddy bear backpack.  I think it adds some humor to the outfit while staying true to the video.  Here is the link to the above costume items.

Hope you all have a wonderful Halloween!

My Style: Bold Stripes

Today's Look: is bold and chic, with dramatic contrast, sexy sheerness, and edgy details. To start the look off, I chose high-waisted, striped shorts and a black, sheer blouse.  Sometimes, striped clothing has a reputation of being unflattering.  These shorts, however, have a modern cut and variation in the direction of the stripes, causing a slimming effect rather than widening. Since the top has gold flourishes, I chose a bold, gold and black necklace.  The necklace has a thick, gold chain with dark, sharp triangle pendants.  Next, I chose black, high-heeled ankle boots and a black, studded clutch.  The boots are unique featuring back cutouts while the clutch is edgy with dark studs and skull imprints.  Finishing off the look, I chose two gold rings, a white leather bracelet with charms saying "FIERCE," gold stud earrings and dual-tone sunglasses with black and leopard print.

Outfit Details:  Top, Shorts, & Earrings c/o Charlotte Russe , Purse & Necklace from oasap.com, Bracelet by BCBGeneration at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Skull Ring from Charming Charlie's (Tucson, Arizona), Crystal Band Ring from Premiere Designs Jewelry, Shoes from Charlotte Russe (Tucson, Arizona), Sunglasses at Black Hound Gallerie (Flagstaff, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  When wearing black and white stripes, pair the item with solid colored pieces to avoid detracting from the statement piece.

Style Crush Saturday: Ryan Gosling

Style Crush:  Ryan Gosling
Known For:  Acting, Singing, Writing, Directing,
Style:  Sleek, Dapper, Masculine

This week's Style Crush is the handsome Ryan Gosling.  Ryan Gosling is a 32 year-old Canadian actor, writer, musician, and director.  Ryan started his career at a young age by singing at weddings with his sister. In 1993, he starred on the Disney Channel's TV show Mickey Mouse Club alongside Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake.  In his twenties, Ryan went for darker, independent films to distance himself from television.  In 2004, Ryan starred in the popular, roma-drama The Notebook, which gained him global attention and the recognition as a heartthrob.  The role even gained him a spot on the 50 Hottest Bachelors list by People Magazine.  Since then, Ryan has starred in multiple blockbusters like Crazy, Stupid, Love, Drive, and Gangster Squad.  In addition to acting, he has also formed a band, Dead Man's Bones, released a self-titled album, and opened his own restaurant, Tagine in Beverly Hills.

Known for his strong jawline and well-built physique,  Ryan has become a major influence within male fashion.  His choice of vintage, designer suits, unique, daring shoes, and skillfully-layered ensembles has gained him attention from males and females.  His subtle scruff, slim-fit slacks, and skinny ties have all become trademarks.  Ryan makes accessorizing masculine with dark, hipster shades and minimal jewelry with a single necklace and watch.  Whether Ryan is acting on the big screen or walking down the street, he always keeps his style fresh and sexy.

My Style: Birthday Girl

Today's Look:  celebrates color and fun in honor of my 20th birthday.  For the special occasion, I wanted something cute and edgy while of course involving pink (my favorite color). To start the look off, I chose the comic-book inspired tank top which features an array of colors that really stand out.  Since the tank top has cut-outs in the back and open-arms,  I wore a black cami underneath for coverage.  Next, I chose colorful platform heels that have a whimsical Aztec pattern, including an array of colors that match the tank top.  Trying to create contrast to the bold, bright top and shoes, I chose to go with loose, boyfriend jeans that I rolled up at the ankles.  It took me awhile to find the perfect pair, because often times boyfriend jeans aren't flattering.  So, instead of buying just any boyfriend pants, I chose a brand I like (Rock Revival) and bought a size bigger than I normally would in a low-cut, straight-legged pair. Finishing off the look, I chose a pink clutch, pink crystal stud earrings, an exotic bracelet, and two rings.

Outfit Details:  Shirt and Platform Heels c/o Charlotte Russe , Jeans by Rock Revival at Grand Central Clothing (Tucson, Arizona), Earrings at Sally's Beauty Supply (Prescott, Arizona), Bracelet handmade (Cozumel, Mexico), Crystal Ring from Aeropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Faith Ring from Premiere Designs Jewelry, Wallet from Claire's (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  Boyfriend pants paired with strappy stilettos, pointy heels, or platform pumps creates a chic-tomboy look.

My Style: Sleek & Chic

Today's Look:  features the reinvention of the skort.  A skort, for those who are unfamiliar with the term, is a blend between a skirt and a pair of shorts.  Normally, either the skirt surrounds shorts or it's a skirt in the front, but shorts in the back, like the skort I'm wearing.  When I was growing up, I used to wear cotton skorts when playing tennis at a local club.  I loved skorts so I had multiple pairs because I loved how I was covered but they are more feminine than regular athletic shorts.  Nowadays, skorts have been updated and have become fashionable for everyday wear or for girls-nights-out with a geometric, asymmetrical trim.  To start the look off, I first chose the faux leather skort and shimmery, platform heels.  The heels are a beautiful iridescent turquoise, so to match them I wore my bright, lose-knit sweater.  Normally, the sweater is baggy and long, perfect for the fall or winter.  For this outfit, I wanted more chic, so I tucked it in and wore a black cami underneath.  Finishing off the look, I chose a black leather clutch, multi-metal necklace, turquoise crystal stud earrings, and two rings.

Outfit Details:  Platform Heels c/o Charlotte Russe , Sweater by Roxy at PacSun (Scottsdale, Arizona), Skort by Lovely Day at urbanog.com, Black Cami from American Eagle (Tucson, Arizona), Necklace from H&M (Tucson, Arizona), Earrings at Sally's Beauty Supply (Prescott, Arizona), Multicolored Ring at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Clutch from Hobo International (Scottsdale, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  The reinvented skort looks great with heels while lengthening the appearance of your legs.

Style Crush:  Lea Michele
Known For:  Acting, Singing
Style:  Elegant, Sexy, Bold

This week's Style Crush is the fabulous Lea Michele.  Lea is best known for her role as the lovable diva Rachel Berry on FOX's TV show phenomenon Glee.  Although she is often times too modest to admit it, the part was specifically written for her.  Lea first got the performing bug when she was eight years old and decided to attend an open casting call with her best friend.  Two weeks later, she was starring on Broadway as Young Cosette in the original New York production of  "Les Misérables."  Since then, she has gone on to star in multiple Broadway plays such as "Ragtime," "Fiddler on the Roof," and "Spring Awakening."  Due to her success on Broadway, she caught the attention of Ryan Murphy, Glee's creator.  After her fair share of stardom on Broadway, Lea left to pursue other ventures which led her to her most famous role as Rachel and her stunning career today.

Lea is praised for her beautiful voice and impressive vocal range, but she is also adored for her fashion sense.  In 2010, Lea was awarded a position on People Magazine's Best Dressed List and voted "2010 Most Stylish Star" by E! Online.  Lea is known for having killer legs, voluptuous hair, and an irresistible smile.  She always turns heads with stunning ballgowns, intricate cocktail dresses, and classy/sassy heels.  She loves the color pink, feminine lace and sparkles, as well as showing some skin, but never too much.  Her accumulated success, this far, is sure to be just the beginning of a long, fabulous career for this starlet.

Don't be surprised if you see Lea and her chic street-style out walking her adorable new puppy, Pearl. Pearl became Lea's newest family edition this week.  Now, I want one!!  So cute.

My Style: Sneaker Wedges

Today's Look:  is all about how to work sneaker wedges.  Sneaker wedges are a current trend that have become very popular with celebrities but either hated or loved by fashionistas.  Personally, I love them. I can wear mine all day at school, walk across campus, and my feet stay comfortable and stylish.  To start the look off, I first chose the white, Aztec, short sweater and high-waisted, green skinny jeans. Next, I chose my black sneaker wedges and "LOVE" beanie to add a casual, street-style flare.  Finishing off the look, I wore a black backpack, a gold cross necklace. gold diamond-shaped earrings, and 4 rings.

Outfit Details:  Necklace, Earrings, and Midi Ring c/o Charlotte Russe , Sweater by Double Zero at urbanog.com, Pants by Bullhead Denim Co at PacSun (Tucson, Arizona), Sneakers by Steve Madden at stevemadden.com, Backpack by PINK at Victoria's Secret (Prescott, Arizona), Beanie at urbanog.com, Skull ring from Charming Charlies (Tucson, Arizona), Crystal Rings from Premiere Designs Jewelry.

Fashion Tip:  To make sneaker wedges work, black, black and white, and other dark colors are the best for fall, while tan, white, and other light colors are great for warmer seasons.  Black sneaker wedges work perfectly in place of black ankle boots.  Leather jackets, blazers, coats, and sweaters all look great paired with them!

To join in on the funky sneaker wedges trend, I included a nice array below.

Style Crush Saturday: Zooey Deschanel

Style Crush:  Zooey Deschanel
Known For:  Acting, Singing, Songwriting
Style:  Vintage, Conservative, Girly

This week's Style Crush is the quirky Zooey Deschanel.  Zooey was born in LA into a showbiz family with her father being an Academy Award Nominated cinematographer and her mother and older sister being actresses.  Zooey knew she wanted to be an actress at a very young age and had a strong drive to achieve success.  At the age of 17, Zooey had her first big role on the sitcom "Veronica's Closet" and her first film role the following year.  By hard work and true talent, Zooey, now 33, has steadily gained recognition in the film industry as well as admiration as a musician.   Her older sister, Emily Deschanel, has also been very successful in the business being the star on the popular TV show Bones as the infamous Dr. Brennan.  Girl power!  Today, Zooey stars on her own TV show as the dorky-yet-lovable Jess Day on FOX's hit comedy New Girl.  In addition to her hit TV show, Zooey has starred in numerous blockbusters including Elf with Will Ferrell, Yes Man with Jim Carrey, (500) Days of Summer with Joseph Gordan-Levitt, and The Happening with Mark Wahlberg.

Well known for her deadpan-comedy style, big blue eyes, and dark, blunt bangs, it's no doubt Zooey is adorable.  If all that isn't enough, Zooey also has a memorable fashion style.  Wearing feminine dresses, conservative nylons, and colorful prints has created a unique style that has a vintage flare with a modern twist.  On her TV show, her character's wardrobe reflects her own personal style in an exaggerated way with thick framed glasses and funky pieces put together, but the outfits always have a touch of Zooey. The ensembles are never dull or predictable.  Her style reflects a youthful glow with a mature finish.  Whether Zooey is making us laugh or stunning us with her cuteness, she is a joy to watch on television and on the red carpet.
