My Style: NYE Party Dress

A ll the single ladies. . . time to get dressed up for New Year’s Eve!  You can’t beat a little black dress with strappy heels.  This year I’m going to be indoors and, hopefully, dancing the night away, so I'm thinking of wearing this ensemble.  I added an ombré pleather jacket for when I’m outdoors because it’s frrrrrrreeeeeeezing in northern Arizona at night this winter.  To accessorize, I added a mixed-metal necklace with a feather motif and a fringed, embroidered purse.  A special touch comes with taking time with your hair.  I saw a picture of a model online with two small side braids, braided into one large one.  I mimicked the look and added some hair extensions to give the large braid some volume.  Of course, you know that I’m hella obsessed with rings and had to add some tarnished gold rings and a black French mani.  I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve, full of crazy fun and lasting memories.  Happy New Year 2015!  Xoxo, Shelly

Arizona Girl Looks of 2014

W hat a fantastic, exhilarating year 2014 turned out to be.  First, I want to say thank you to all of my wonderful readers who leave kind comments and appreciate my posts.  If I can inspire women and men to be bolder, more confident, and willing to try new trends, then I've made a small difference.  Next, I am so thankful for the special events and amazing collaborations this year.  This was a year of many first-time events.  I was published in print for the first time in Marie Claire's April 2014 issue. I enjoyed my first music festival at Osheaga in Montreal, Canada, with Garage Clothing.  Getting decked out from head to toe in Armani, I attended my first Beverly Hills gala at Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood’s Party.  One more first was making a People’s Choice video with a wonderful film crew and director. Last but not least this year, I am thankful for doing well in my graphic design studies.  Yesterday, I received my acceptance into the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University.  The graphic design program is well respected and I’m excited to be challenged and learn more.  Well, to celebrate the year, I thought it might be fun to do a recap of my outfits styled in 2014.  Most of all, I wish for you a fabulous 2015 full of health, success, and love. Xoxo, Shelly

Free People X Arizona Girl

P ure joy is the only way to describe how I felt when I received an email from Free People (FP) clothing asking me to collaborate.  One of my favorite clothing companies, the FP label is known to embody the independent, creative, bold, free-spirited woman.  FP designers travel the world for inspiration and enlightenment, resulting in beautiful clothes and accessories that epitomize bohemian luxury both in quality and comfort.  For my styling, I selected this "Faithful Shaggy Jacket" in Sand and paired it with one of my favorite FP dresses.  This little black dress has stripes in velvet and a perfect cut with a deep V back.  I added a gorgeous FP necklace, some rustic gold rings, over-the-knee socks, tall black boots, and a soft-as-butter pleather purse.  So, I received one of my Christmas wishes early in the form of a warm, chic jacket.  I hope you all get your Christmas wishes.  I'd love to hear what was your favorite gift received this year :)  Xoxo Shelly

My Style: Moto Magic

A major plus to living in northern Arizona:  living 10 minutes away from paradises like this, Lynx Lake.   Although the temperatures are low this time of year, I always love sightseeing and exploring different photoshoot locations.  To stay warm, I styled this look with multiple layers, a high-low tank top, a soft sweater, and a light denim jacket.  My favorite part of the look is the moto pants.  After working hard, I decided to treat myself to an early Christmas present.  I have been searching online for the perfect pair and I found them for a great price with an excellent fit.  It was a risk but it worked out.  I love when that happens.  By the way, since I have been on winter break and catching up on some R&R, I have a few movie recommendations!  If any of you of looking for some romances, I definitely recommend In Your Eyes (instant watch on Netflix) and If I Stay (DVD for rent)!  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Blackout

S neakers have transitioned from a workout staple to a chic street style trend and my feet for one are loving it!  I'm wearing these sleek Nike sneakers to walk around Arizona's Christmas city, shopping and sightseeing in comfort.  I added a soft, warm top from We Are Dope (VVAD3) and stretch skinny jeans along with a wool peacoat.  Throw on a warm beanie and pick out a fave backpack and you can face anything the day brings.  Hey, I want to add a special thank you for a Christmas gift from the amazing jewelry company Coco & Marie.  I adore the gold necklaces, one of the state of Arizona and one with my initial.  Talk about lovely gifts.  If you'd like to order some beautiful, delicate jewelry for  someone special this Christmas, please think about using the discount code below and save 20%.
